BONUS QUESTION
ESQ: We see Rishi’s “alpha” bravado help and hurt him. What does Sagar Radia define as an alpha male in the real world?
SR: Man, I don’t know. I genuinely think for me, an Alpha male is hopefully someone who’s maybe confident within themselves, self assured about themselves, isn’t someone who is swayed too much by other people’s opinions of them. If you’re someone who can just sort of brush things off and keep it moving- For me, that’s Alpha male. That’s someone who can just sort of navigate the world, that can get through your daily life without being affected too much by other people’s opinions of you. I think for me that can read as a strong Alpha male.
Someone who’s strong with decision making, someone who is able to know what they want. For me, these are kind of characteristics for an Alpha male in my world anyway. As an actor, so much of it is about insecurity and so much is uncertain that if you can have a moral compass on that plank you’re sort of walking- I kind of feel like that’s the type of Alpha male I want to be. And sometimes I am and sometimes I’m not. That’s just kind of life, right? We have our good days and our bad days, but if I can continue in this world where I’m confident in myself and self assured in myself, then that’s a good Alpha male for me.
We live in an external validation world. Social media, likes, retweets, whatever. I can only imagine being a kid in that. Being a kid’s hard, man! I’m lucky that I got to bypass that in a place where I feel like my confidence and my growth came from the people around me. Came from good family, good friends and having to seek that from social media and likes would be tough now. It’d be really interesting experience.
